San Marcos police arrested a 20-year-old man for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly confronted a man with a handgun and proceeded to steal a bike while evading officers.

The San Marcos Police Department responded to the 200 block of Armstrong Street for a reported aggravated assault on Thursday at approximately 12:30 p.m. Police said the victim informed officers that a young Black male — later identified as Jason Jordan Trevino, 20, of San Marcos — pointed a black handgun at him as he confronted him about walking in his yard, and that he was accompanied by a young Hispanic female.

Officials said officers arrived on scene and located Trevino who ran from officers while the female remained at the scene. Officers set a perimeter and searched the area for the Trevino. It was confirmed that Trevino had a handgun, SMPD said.
