San Marcos High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) performed a flag retirement ceremony at Maurice T. Suttles VFW Post 3413. The organization came together to dispose of flags gifted to VFW Post 3413 by the community but are no longer serviceable.
The United States Flag Code states: “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
San Marcos High School AFJROTC held a flag folding presentation to show how to prepare a flag properly before it is retired.
