Murder suspect turns self in, held on $750k bond

The suspect in a deadly shooting that occurred Friday evening turned himself in early Tuesday morning, according to a press release from the city.

An-drew Stephen Jones surrendered at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center at 4 a.m. Tuesday, the city said. He is being held at the Hays County Jail on a $750,000 bond. He faces a first degree felony murder charge.

San Marcos Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jones on Saturday for a deadly shooting at Uptown Square Apartments the day before. Multiple callers said a victim had been shot in the parking lot and gave a description of the suspect. One witness stated that he was meeting the shooting victim at the apartment complex to buy drugs. While at the complex, the victim and witness were confronted by the above described subject who produced a handgun and shot the victim.  He then fled to the silver SUV and left the scene.
