Wuthrich’s grand slam powers Bobcats past Texas A&M

Texas State sophomore right fielder John Wuthrich smacked a grand slam over the left-field wall at Blue Bell Park in College Station to give the Bobcats a 5-0 lead over Texas A&M in the first inning.

Texas State used Wuthrich’s first home run of the season to propel itself to a 5-3 win over the 10th-ranked Aggies on Tuesday.

The Bobcats (21-12, 5-4 Sun Belt) made quick work of Texas A&M sophomore lefty Dustin Saenz. Texas State senior third baseman Jaylen Hubbard led off the first inning with a double. A sacrifice bunt from sophomore shortstop Dalton Shuffield advanced Hubbard to third. Saenz walked the next two Bobcats to load the bases.
