Texas State could not overcome an early deficit as the Bobcats fell to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 4-2 in the conference opener.
Despite the loss, head coach Steven Trout said he was proud of his team’s ability to chase Southern Miss starting pitcher Tanner Hall out of the game in the fifth inning.
“It was obviously a good one,” Trout said. “Their guy was really good. We did a good job of grinding out at bats and getting him out early. We just couldn’t get to their lefty (Sivley).”
