Election results show all four bond issues passing

The unofficial, preliminary votes for Saturday’s uniform election are in and San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District officials are celebrating a clean sweep in the passage of its four bond propositions.

Statistics were released by the Hays County Elections Division on Saturday, May 6, and it is important to note that the following data represents the total number of voters for all of the county, not just information regarding the school board of trustees election and the bond propositions. According to the elections division, there were 7,329 in-person voters that participated in early voting and 4,565 in-person voters on election day. There were 278 regular mail voters and one federal post card application. The subtotal for in-person voters was 11,894 and subtotal for absentee voters was 279. There were 337 mail ballots sent and 118 returned ballots.

Up for election for SMCISD Board of Trustees for District 1, were Philip Muzzy and Jessica Cain. Cain received the majority of the preliminary votes cast with 245. Muzzy received 167 votes in both early and election day results. The total percentages for both Cain and Muzzy was 59.47% and 40.53%, respectively.
