The Texas State men’s and women’s track and field squads swept both team titles over the weekend, each taking first place at the Bobcat Invitational inside the Texas State Track and Field Complex.
Sophomore Cade Michael and junior Leslie Romero took chipped in two victories on Friday in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Michael finished in 9:36.22, good for the No. 8 time in the Sun Belt and a new personal record. Romero broke the school record with a time of 10:50.70, moving her to No. 4 in the conference. Sophomore Owen McGothlin (15:20.93) and junior Sarah Godfrey (18:39.95) picked up another two wins for the distance crew, both winning the 5,000 meters.
The maroon and gold sprinters went to work on Saturday. Senior Tramesha Hardy blazed the competition in the 200 meters for a league-best time of 22.72 seconds. The Houston native also helped the women’s 4x100-meter relay team earn a gold medal, along with freshmen Live Hilton, Sadi Giles and Anayah Washington.
