TxDOT to begin Posey Rd. bridge demolition Tuesday

The Posey Road bridge is set for demolition this week and will cause mainlanes on Interstate 35 to close, beginning on Tuesday.

The Texas Department of Transportation will be closing I-35’s main lanes in alternating directions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. All southbound traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads at Exit 199 on Tuesday and northbound traffic will be detoured on Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Drivers who will need to cross I-35 at Posey Road will be detoured to York Creek Road or Centerpoint Road. The main lanes on I-35 will close so TxDOT can safely demolish the current bridge at Posey Road.

The northbound frontage will be closed on Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Posey Road to York Creek Road. The southbound frontage road from York Creek Road to Posey Road will be closed on Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

All traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads at Exit 199 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Drivers who will need to cross I-35 at Posey Road will be detoured to York Creek Road or Centerpoint Road. The frontage roads will be closed temporarily to complete the bridge removal. Detours will be in place.

TxDOT asks that all driving through this area be aware of all construction signage and work zones.
