The city of San Marcos is collecting housing stories and photos from community residents to guide San Marcos’ housing affordability conversations. Housing stories help illustrate that housing should be for all people, in all places, for all generations.
Questions to help guide the housing conversation include: Why do you love living in San Marcos? What are your hopes for the future of housing in San Marcos? What’s your take on our housing challenges?
Community members are also invited to utilize the Community Conversation Toolkit to learn more about this initiative and provide input on housing. The toolkit can be utilized by individuals or as part of a collaborative discussion with an organization or group. Community Conversations can be hosted by city staff and/or a housing task force member.
City Council has identified workforce housing as one of five strategic initiatives. In order to address this initiative, a Housing Task Force has been formed to assist the City Council in developing a Strategic Housing Action Plan aimed at addressing housing needs in San Marcos.
Housing stories and feedback from community conversation toolkits can be submitted online at the city's website. Residents can also post their housing story on social media using the tag #smtx4all along with a picture or video of you near your home or neighborhood. By participating, you’ll receive a SMTX 4 ALL T-shirt!
A SMTX 4 All Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Recreation Hall, 298 Jowers Access Road. A presentation will begin at 6 p.m.
