Jerry Fruit, a long time icon in San Marcos business circles, died at his beloved farm on April 29. He was born May 10, 1933 in Oklahoma City. He attended Austin high school, Texas A&M and the University of Texas where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Texas Instruments developing new products and generating patents before starting his own company. Mensor LP was launched in 1969 and moved to San Marcos in 1978. This month marks the 60th anniversary of the company which employs 90 local citizens. He was involved in many community groups including the San Marcos Manufacturer’s Association, and with his wife Vikki, Sights and Sounds of Christmas, and archeological dives in Spring Lake in connection with Dr. Shiner of SMU. He enjoyed having his children and grandchildren visit the farm. He also enjoyed relaxing with his friends at the Veramendi Yacht Club and eating at Rogelio’s. Some of his hobbies were: Tae Kwon Do, Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Camping, boat building, and measuring stuff. He was preceded in parents Loren and Naomi Fruit and sister Carol Adams. He is survived by his sister Sharyn Simmons, children: Mike (Kim), Mitch (Ami), Erik, Svend (Monica Bell), Amy (Don) and Davis (Christy), Grandchildren: Shawna, Cole, Simon, Aiden, Evan, Dillon and great-grandson Jaxon. He will be missed by all, may he rest in peace.
