On June 5, after a near-two-week trial, Reymundo Montiel Jr., age 41, was convicted by a Hays County jury of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Indecency with a Child and sentenced to 99 years in prison.
Montiel’s trial began on May 28 on an indictment charge of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, first degree felonies, and two counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, second degree felonies, for acts committed against two child victims. He was convicted on all four counts.
The two victims testified the defendant began sexually assaulting them while they were asleep. When confronted, the defendant confessed to the victims’ mother after he believed he had impregnated one of the girls. He then fled Texas in the summer of 2015 and returned to Illinois where he committed and was convicted of Aggravated Battery before being extradited back to Hays County in March of 2018 to face charges.
