Hanging out at the ball fields brings me back to my childhood of playing tee ball or coach pitch. Grab a Gatorade and a hot dog and kick your feet up on the row of the metal bleacher in front of you. The concession stand still sells the same Double Bubble that I used to chew five pieces at a time. Given the often hard-rock texture, it might even be from the same bucket from way back when. But this weekend, there is a little more on the line than a participation trophy. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office and Wimberley Fire and Rescue are meeting on the diamond for a charity softball game. It costs tl for adults and $3 for kids to attend. All proceeds go to the Wimberley Youth Sports Association and the American Cancer Society. The game starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Wimberley ISD Baseball Complex at 290 Ballpark Road in Wimberley. When the police and fire department square off, who are you rooting for?
