In Oct., the League of Women Voters of Hays County will hold three virtual candidate forums. These forums will be in the format of Zoom webinars with the candidates and can be viewed live or afterwards from recordings on the Hays County League website.
All forums will begin at 7 p.m. On Oct. 8, the forum will be for the Woodcreek City Council. On Oct. 10, the forum will be for County Constable Pct. 2 and County Court-At-Law No. 3. On Oct. 17, the forum will be for the San Marcos Mayor and San Marcos City Council.
League policy is that there must be at least two participating candidates to hold a forum. The canceled forums are those with candidates who are not participating. Forums canceled are: Wimberley ISD, Texas Senate District 25, Texas House Representative District 45, Judge Judicial District 483, Hays County District Clerk, Sheriff and County Commissioner Pct.3.
“As part of the LWV of Hays County mission to empower voters, the candidate forums are a valuable resource for voters to fully inform themselves before heading to the vote center,” Linda Calvert, president of League of Women Voters of Hays County, said. “Hays County is one of the fastest growing counties in Texas and the U.S., among counties of over 100, 000 population and this means we have many more eligible voters. The LWV encourages new as well as long-time Hays County voters to attend these local forums to learn about and get a feel for the candidates vying for their votes.”
All candidate forums will be listed on lwvhaysco. com on the Forums Webinars Programs page under the Events tab. No registration required; simply click on the link provided for a particular forum at 7 p.m. that day to view it live. The event schedule can also be accessed on the Event Calendar on the website as well as the LWV Hays County Facebook page. Forum questions for the candidates have been prepared by the League of Women Voters with input from the community.
To virtually attend these events, find the Zoom link for each forum on lwvhaysco. com/forumswebinarsprograms. After the completed events, a recording of each forum will be posted within 48 hours at lwvhaysco.com on the Forums Webinars Programs page.
