HAYS COUNTY FOOTBALL
The Hays Hawks notched a critical district win, defeating the Lockhart Lions 31-17.
The Hawks improve to 3-2 for the season.
Anthony Hernandez led the way for the Hawks, rushing for 171 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns.
Hays will look to continue their winning ways against Pflugerville Weiss this Friday.
JOHNSON FALLS TO CANYON The Johnson Jaguars lost their first district game of the season, losing to the New Braunfels Canyon Cougars 42-21.
The Cougars scored 21 unanswered points in the first quarter before cruising to the win.
Johnson will be on a bye this week.
DRIPPING SPRINGS ROLLS AUSTIN HIGH Dripping Springs rolled over Austin High 49-7 to improve to 2-0 in district play and 5-1 overall.
Senior running back Jack Tyndall rushed for 131 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns while quarterback Maddox Maher passed for 155 yards and three touchdowns.
The Tigers will square off with Austin Bowie Friday night.
LEHMAN LOSSES TO ANDERSON The Lobos will continue to search for their first win after losing to the Austin Anderson Trojans 64-7.
Running back Zayne Barber scored the only touchdown for the Lobos and rushed for 61 yards on 11 carries.
Lehman will make the trip to College Station in a showdown with A&M Consolidated Friday.
