Our KZSM Kissing Alley Concerts return to the iconic downtown passageway this Thursday, October 17, 7-9 p.m. with a free, family-friendly Block Party. Three local entertainers—DJ Alpha, Lovely Jaycee, and DJ JoG—will supply plenty of music, fun and community vibes.
Followers of KZSM 104.1/KZSM.org know DJ Alpha (Josh Gomez) as the eloquent emcee of the San Marcos Music Awards and the host of “The Latin Energy Show” (Thursdays 7-8 p.m.) His dynamic broadcast showcases the amazing variety of Latin music, with everything from Rhumba to Reggaeton. “I love the idea of having a block party style event” he reflects, “because it’s all for the community to enjoy. It’s a great way to celebrate music and entertainment.”
Lovely Jaycee (Javousaime Varela) bonded with her husband, DJ Alpha, over their mutual love for music. Drawing on her gift for choosing music, she overcame stage fright this year when she was hired to DJ on the app BIGO Live. Inspired, she has created her own show, “The Lit Mix,” coming up Saturdays 1011 p.m. (Check future columns for more about this eclectic show.). Her live debut at Thursday’s Kissing Alley Concert “is going to be so special for me—stepping out of my comfort zone, doing what I love, and representing as a DJ couple with DJ Alpha. Hope to see you all there.”
This power couple will welcome their friend DJ JoG (Joseph Gonzalez), another popular local DJ, on Thursday. Like DJ Alpha, JoG considers himself an open format DJ. “I can mix hip-hop with Latin music, then throw a classic rock song in, then go to country. When you see the crowd vibing from one genre to another without missing a beat, you know you are doing your job right.”
KZSM has been presenting Kissing Alley concerts since 2017, proudly featuring an impressive range of local performers. Two more concerts, in November and December, will complete this year’s series. Since 2022, our concerts have been funded by the San Marcos Arts Commission. We are most grateful to them and to Muertos Clothing and Shift Nutrition LLC, who are sponsoring this week’s concert.
Bring your family and friends to this magical downtown space and join us under Thursday’s full supermoon for a night of music, fun, and unique San Marcos community vibes Howl, dance, or just relax, listen and enjoy.
