LOCAL EVENTS
For local film buffs, there is an upcoming festival that will feature tons of movies for one's viewing pleasure. From Oct. 17-20, the Price Center will once again host four days of new, independent cinema culled from across the planet as part of the Lost River Film Fest.
The festival will show scores of new, independent films, including more than 40 from Texas. The opening night viewing will feature locally-shot BOYHOOD and the new PBS documentary on San Marcos jazz icon Eddie Durham followed by a Q&A with the jazzman's daughter Topsy. Friday will wrap up with a Poetry Night with live improvisational jazz music. Saturday's programming centers on issues of social justice, including immigration, gender, LGBTQIA narratives and the criminal legal system. Sunday is dedicated to new Texasmade films, with each containing a filmmaker Q&A afterward.
