Learn about the regional business community at the Rotary Club of San Marcos’ weekly luncheon on Oct. 23 with Greater San Marcos Partnership President and CEO Mike Kamerlander speaking.
Kamerlander has more than a decade of experience in driving economic development. Throughout his career, he has led successful initiatives and fostered collaboration that resulted in significant economic growth in the communities he has served.
Before joining GSMP, Kamerlander was the Director of the Lockhart Economic Development Corporation, where he developed the city’s first economic development strategic plan. His efforts helped position Lockhart as a destination for job creation and investment, highlighted by the development of a 75-acre industrial park and the recruitment of The Ziegenfelder Company, which invested $46 million and created 100 new jobs. Other notable projects include Millscale Metalworks, Visionary Fiber Technologies’ expansion, and RealCold’s 300,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse.
Kamerlander’s career also includes roles as Assistant Director of Economic Development for the City of San Antonio, Executive Director of the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation, and Vice President at GSMP. He earned his Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification in 2019 and holds a bachelor’s degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin. Originally from Orlando, Florida, he has lived and worked in the Austin region for over 20 years.
The Rotary Club meets at noon on Wednesdays. Today’s meeting will be held at the Maurice T. Suttles VFW Post 3413 at1701 Hunter Road in San Marcos. Guests are welcome to attend.
