LifeLong Learning-San Marcos is teaming up with Jason’s Deli for a fundraiser to support LifeLong Learning’s mission to provide accessible no-cost/low-cost experiences for San Marcos- area older adults to explore, question, learn and engage with others. The fundraiser is from 4 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Jason’s Deli on Highway 80 in San Marcos. When ordering, mention that you are eating on behalf of LifeLong Learning and Jason’s will donate 20% of the sales.
“The importance of being an active learner never ends and is even more critical as we age,” Marianne Reese, founder and director of LifeLong Learning, said. “With offerings as diverse as the U.S. Supreme Court, genealogy, the art and literature of Texas, line dancing, the geology of the Hill Country and beer appreciation, LifeLong Learning provides opportunities for shared camaraderie for the love of learning that are as socially pleasurable as they are enriching.”
Celebrating its 10th year, LifeLong Learning delivers stimulating courses, lectures, tours and unique presentation series, providing ever-increasing opportunities for San Marcos-area senior “students” to form new relationships, learn new hobbies and learn about themselves and their community. Courses and presentations are held at several local venues by community members and Texas State professors and retirees who have rich knowledge of their subject areas. In addition to hosting three book clubs, LifeLong Learning’s Zoom offerings include partnerships with organizations such as the Bullock Texas State History Museum, Wittliff Collections, and 9/11 Museum to offer lectures and tours from the comfort of home.
As an independent, family-owned business, Jason’s Deli is committed to building positive and meaningful relationships in our community. By donating a portion of its Nov. 12 sales to LifeLong Learning, Jason’s Deli honors its commitment to “do the right thing, every day.”
