In labs across America, scientists and researchers are making breakthroughs that could transform the treatment of rare diseases.

These projects give much-needed hope to rare disease patients around the world. Yet they may have a harder time attracting the investment they need if lawmakers let a little- known — but critical — government program expire at the end of this year, December 20, 2024.
