Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos music program students got the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the nation's best classically-trained young musicians on Friday. “From the Top,” one of the most popular music programs on NPR, hosted a community engagement day at Centro, as a prelude to the Texas State International Piano Festival last weekend. Erin Fitzgerald, a 15-year-old pianist from Lake Travis High School in Austin and a "From the Top" featured musician, shows Centro students how to emulate the characteristics of water — flowing, trickling, swirling and swaying — in their playing to add more texture.
