The Rattler Nation Football Booster, a nonprofit organization, will host a fundraiser to support the team from 4 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 13 in the front parking lot of the Rattler Stadium, 2601 Rattler road.
“All of the funds for the hosting of the event will go to the San Marcos High School Rattler Football team, and the plan for how the money raised will be charging the community vendors that will be attending and providing a table of their items they sell,” Pamela Cassidy, The Rattler Nation Football Booster President, said. “We as the football booster will be selling snow cones or hot chocolate — depending on how the weather is, specialty popcorn, drinks and merch. The other SMCISD boosters will be selling different foods and drinks.”
Cassidy said the booster financially supports and provides for the San Marcos High School football players. The booster is composed of a group that was nominated last summer, and there are three booster officers that assist Cassidy regularly.
“I have 161 football players that we feed every week at all home games. We help fill the gap of funds that way our players get what they need and deserve,” Cassidy said. “In the beginning of the year, our players needed new SM stickers for their helmets, so I bought those. We provide and pay for the end of the year Football Banquet, [which is an] end of the year fun activity for the boys. We have our own Rattler Football store in the Rattler Stadium, so I keep that open during home games to try and make money for the boys. ... We do fundraisers throughout the year; for example, on Sept. 21, we held a Kick-Off BBQ Pulled Pork plate sale. Sometimes I physically feed the players on game days.”
Cassidy got involved in the football booster because of her son Hunter, who is in football and marching band as a freshmen this year. Cassidy has been involved in several of his activities. She was president for the Miller Middle School Boys Athletics and vice president of the Miller Middle School Band prior to his move into high school. She was nominated as president of Rattler Nation Football booster this year.
“I just live in Hunter’s world and [am] grateful to be a huge part of his school life,” Cassidy said. “I never allowed Hunter sleepovers anywhere, so over the years, I have adopted half of his crew — the Football Team. I am Mom to a lot of these players, as I take care of them all the time. I donate drinks, food, snacks, etc. every week as well as my time running the Football Booster daily activities.”
The Rattler Nation Football Booster is currently sponsored by TERRATA HOMES & Bluebonnet Kettle. If one would like to sponsor the Rattler Football team, contact Cassidy at [email protected] or attend the event on Dec. 13.
