Help make Thanksgiving special for shelter dogs

SAN MARCOS REGIONAL ANIMAL SHELTER

This Thanksgiving, you can make a difference for furry friends in need by helping San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter provide festive plates for the dogs in their care. San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter gathering seasonal ingredients to create special meals and need your help to make it happen.

They need the following donations: canned pumpkin, frozen carrots, frozen green beans, canned turkey or chicken.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter by Tuesday, Nov. 26. Drop-off hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’d prefer to shop online, check out their Amazon Wish List at https://a.co/7hQDFLy.

While it’s hard to predict the number of donors, SMRAS is confident in the community’s willingness to step up. Past drives have drawn support from dozens of individuals and groups, and the shelter is hopeful that this year will be no different.

Thanksgiving isn’t the only time to contribute. SMRAS accepts donations year-round to ensure the animals receive consistent care and enrichment. Holidays provide a unique opportunity to bring extra cheer, and for Thanksgiving, the shelter is excited to serve festive, holiday-themed meals to make their day brighter. Whether it’s through food donations, monetary gifts, or purchases from the Amazon list, every bit of support helps.
