During the 2006 season, San Marcos met Smithson Valley in the Bi-District round of the playoffs where the Rattlers where previously 0-6 against the Rangers after their first meeting in 1998. However, San Marcos flipped the script, beating the Rangers 35-34 in Smithson Valley to win the Bi-District Championship. San Marcos later reached the Regional Finals of the playoffs.
