Texas State saw their season come to an end at the NCAA Tournament, losing to the Missouri Tigers 3-0 [25-16, 25-22, 25-22].

The Bobcats and Head Coach Sean Huiet will finish the season with a 22-9 overall record.

“It’s frustrating. That was not our best performance,” Huiet said. “But as we talked to the team, Missouri is good. When you get to the NCAA tournament, only one team ends their season with a win. It’s one of those times where you want to be playing your best, but like we told the team, we’re so proud of them. This season has been so much fun, and tonight’s match doesn’t define how our season went.”

In the first set, Missouri jumped out in front, leading Texas State 6-2. The Bobcats managed to cut the deficit down to 8-5, but the Tigers responded with a 5-0 run to lead 135.

The gap was too much for the Bobcats to overcome as Texas State fell in the first 25-16.

The second set was more competitive than the first set with Texas State and Missouri trading the lead back and forth. Following a kill from junior Jade Defraeye, the score was tied at 16-16.

Missouri capitalized on a couple of errors from the Bobcats before going up 19-16. The short 3-0 run by the Tigers proved to be the difference maker as Texas State was unable to recapture the lead, falling in the second set 25-22.

In the third set, the Bobcats responded by going up 15-8 on Missouri, their largest lead of the set. But a 6-0 run by the Tigers cut the Bobcats lead down to one at 15-14.

Once again, both the Bobcats and Tigers went back and forth with the game being all tied up at 20-20.

Missouri responded by going on 4-0 run to be at match point 24-20. Texas State was able to stay alive after scoring consecutive points but were unable to complete the comeback, falling to Missouri 25-22 in the third set.
