While I’m still in the spirit of upcycling and thrifting all of my holiday gifts this year, I am also quite conscious that we are running out of time. That’s why this Sunday, I plan to attend the Fairy House Building Workshop hosted by the Broke Thespians Theatre Company. Designed to help celebrate sustainability (and the BTTC upcoming production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream), people who attend this session can design their own fairy garden made from reclaimed items, including those old marinara and pickle jars you’ve been saving. (We listen. We don’t judge.) Participants can also create seed bombs because winter is the print time to plant native wildflowers. The event is Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Maurice T. Suttles VFW Hall at 1701 Hunter Road. It’s free, but BTTC asks that everyone bring their own vessel to build on, including jars, cans or flower pots. Registration is encouraged but not required.
