The city of San Marcos is looking for volunteers to be part of the Charter Review Commission, and residents interested in filling vacancies on City Boards and Commissions.
The Charter Review Commission is responsible for inquiring into the operation of the city government under the charter provisions and determining whether such provisions require revisions. The commission may also conduct public hearings and report findings to the San Marcos City Council. The term for the Charter Review Commission is anticipated to be six months.
The deadline to apply for the Charter Review Commission is Dec. 30. Each city council member will appoint a volunteer to the commission, and selections are expected to be made during the Jan. 7 city council regular meeting.
In addition to the Charter Review Commission, various city of San Marcos Boards and Commissions will have vacancies to be filled with volunteers. Citizens should fill out interest applications online by Jan. 10 to be considered for appointment.
Members are appointed by the city council and serve without monetary compensation. Each of the city’s Boards and Commissions will have vacancies, and residents are encouraged to apply to any vacancy of interest. The new selected members will start on March 1, 2025.

City council will review the applications and make appointments during the regular meeting scheduled for Feb. 7, 2025.
