SAN MARCOS POLICE DEPARTMENT
The San Marcos Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of Tiffany Rivera, 35, at a gas station near the intersection of Redwood Road and Highway 123 at 3:17 p.m. on Dec. 13. Rivera was with her toddler at the time of the incident. SMPD said the initial information indicates the shooting was accidental.
“Upon arrival, officers located a woman with a gunshot wound lying on the ground,” officials with the city of San Marcos stated. “Responding officers attempted life saving measures but were not successful, and the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene by Hays County Justice of the Peace Maggie H. Moreno.”
Next of kin has been notified and the San Marcos Police Department’s Victim Services unit has been engaged to provide assistance to Rivera’s family. This is an ongoing investigation.
