The United States Environmental Protection Agency and Texas Commission of Environmental Quality require Texas water providers to conduct field surveys to identify the material of service lines within their water distribution system. SMTX Utilities is asking water customers to complete the Water Service Line Material Survey to help SMTX Utilities identify what materials are on the customer’s side of the meter to stay in compliance with EPA and TCEQ regulations. Depending on the material identified, some service lines may need replacement.
Lead test results from 2021 and 2024 are available. Customers needing service line replacement have been notified via mail.
