SAN MARCOS WOLVERINES
Bruce Williams, a passionate advocate for inclusive sports, recently announced the formation of a brand-new Special Olympics delegation in the area, the San Marcos Wolverines. Speaking at a meet-and-greet event at the Embassy Suites, Williams shared his vision for the delegation and the impact it hopes to make on the community.
Williams emphasized the critical need for such a program, noting the gap in sports opportunities for special needs athletes after high school.
“This area is in desperate need of a delegation,” he said. “After high school, most of these special needs athletes do not have sports options available to them. We are going to fix that.”
The Wolverines will serve athletes from San Marcos, New Braunfels and Wimberley, creating a regional hub for Special Olympics activities.
“We would love it if you could help spread the word about our new delegation,” Williams said. “These athletes deserve a chance to keep competing, building friendships and thriving in their communities.”
The meet-and-greet marked the beginning of what promises to be a transformative initiative for the area. Williams encouraged attendees to join in supporting the Wolverines, whether as athletes, volunteers or supporters. He also took the opportunity to clarify that the program is open to all ages, ensuring inclusivity for all special needs athletes in the region.
With his inspiring speech, Williams left no doubt about his dedication to making the San Marcos Wolverines a success. The evening was filled with optimism and excitement as attendees expressed their eagerness to see the delegation take shape.
As the San Marcos Wolverines prepare to start their journey, the community looks forward to a future where every athlete has the opportunity to shine.
