DUNBAR HERITAGE ASSOCIATION
Martin Luther King Jr. Day, celebrated on the third Monday in January, is a federal holiday that honors the birth and legacy of civil rights leader and Baptist minister Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Dunbar Heritage Association will be hosting a two-day MLK Day celebration in honor of Dr. King. The first is an MLK Kid’s event, which will be celebrated from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the San Marcos Public Library. The second will occur starting at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 20, MLK Jr. Day, at the intersection of LBJ Drive and MLK Drive, the location of the Crossroads Memorial.
The MLK Kids’ Event is a celebration just for children ages 3 to 18 filled with engaging activities, games and arts and crafts aimed at teaching youth about Dr. King’s legacy.
