SMHS GIRLS BASKETBALL
The No. 22 ranked Lady Rattlers notched another win on the road, beating the New Braunfels Canyon Cougarettes 54-28 to start the second round of district play.
San Marcos improved their overall record to 206, marking the second straight season the Lady Rattlers won 20 games in a regular season and improving their district record to 6-1.
Junior power forward Melayna Perkins led the team in scoring with 17 points followed by senior point Ezra Tobias with 14. Sophomore point guard Rileigh Good was third in scoring with 10 points.
San Marcos will be back on the road tonight in a showdown with Hays County rival Buda Johnson. The Jaguars are coming off a 72-41 loss to the Cibolo Steele Knights last Friday. In their last meeting, San Marcos defeated Buda Johnson 62-33.
Tip-off for San Marcos- Buda Johnson is set for 7 p.m. at Johnson High School.
