Gary Job Corps students learn about secret service

Michael “Zark” Markowitz, Retired Secret Service agent and San Antonio Police Department officer, shared with Gary Job Corps Corrections Cadets the insights of his 20-plus years of service. As part of the National Groundhog Shadow Day activities, Markowitz shared with the cadets what a day with the Secret Service would entail, such as working protective details with Hillary Clinton and Vice-President Dick Cheney. In addition, Markowitz worked six presidential campaigns and inaugurations, over 20 United Nations’ annual meetings and two Pope visits. Captain Heather Escalante, Gary Job Corps Corrections Cadet instructor, stated “I am glad that we had ‘Zark’ here to speak to the cadets in showing them all the possibilities that they have for a future in the corrections/ security vocations”.
