SAN MARCOS POLICE DEPARTMENT
San Marcos Police responded to an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Aquarena Springs Drive before midnight on Wednesday. According to initial information, an individual was being held hostage by Hector Cues- tas, 35. SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the scene and some nearby apartment units were evacuated as a precaution. At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, a rescue operation was conducted, leading to the safe recovery of the victim. Cuestas was taken into custody.
Cuestas is currently in the Hays County Jail facing charges of Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport, and Interfering with Public Duties.
