INTERNATIONAL CITY/COUNTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION
San Marcos City Manager Stephanie Reyes has received the esteemed Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA, the International City/ County Management Association. Reyes is among an elite group of more than 1,300 local govern- ment management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.

“Stephanie’s leadership and dedication to professional development have been evident throughout her career, and this designation underscores her commitment to excellence in public service,” San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson said. “Our community is fortunate to have such an accomplished and forward-thinking leader.”
Reyes, a San Marcos native, has served the city of San Marcos for more than 23 years in various roles, including Assistant City Manager, Chief of Staff, Assistant Director of Human Resources and Assistant to the City Manager. She was named San Marcos City Manager in February 2023 after serving as interim city manager for a year.
To earn the ICMA Credentialed Manager designation, recipients must demonstrate significant senior management experience in local government, possess an advanced degree (preferably in public administration or a related field), and uphold high standards of integrity, lifelong learning and professional development. Reyes’s ICMA membership highlights include recognition for her 20 years of service by both the International City/ County Management Association and the Texas City Management Association. She is also a graduate of the Leadership ICMA program, which further reflects her commitment to advancing professional local government management.
“I am honored to receive this credential from ICMA, an organization that represents the highest standards in local government management,” Reyes said. “I remain dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration, and progress for the city of San Marcos and my hometown community I am privileged to serve.”
Beyond her work with the city, Reyes has actively contributed to the community, serving as a board member for Leadership San Marcos and Community Action and participating in various other initiatives that support the region.
Reyes holds a Master of Public Administration from Texas State University and is a proud graduate of San Marcos High School.
