Texas State bounced back following their three game losing streak to beat the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks 67-64 in a thrilling game.
The win also saw senior forward Destiny Terrell pass a significant milestone, passing 1,000 career points.
Texas State and ULM traded the lead back and forth during the first period before the Bobcats took advantage in the second.
Leading 19-18 going into the second period, the Bobcats went on a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 29-20.
ULM later cut the Bobcat lead down to 33-27, but a 7-0 run by Texas State, capped off by a three-pointer from senior forward Jaylin Foster, pushed the Bobcat lead to 40-27.
At halftime, Texas State led 40-32.
Despite ULM’s best efforts in the second half, the Warhawks were unable to recapture the lead, allowing Texas State to capture the win at 67-64.
Terrell and senior forward Morgan Hill led the team in scoring with 14 points each. Terrell also led the team in rebounds with 11 to complete the double-double. Freshman guard Saniya Burks and sophomore Ja’Mia Harris were second in scoring with 12 points each. Foster was fifth in scoring with nine points.
Texas State returns home Wednesday for a conference showdown with Coastal Carolina as part of Play for Kay Cancer Awareness week.
