Blimpie is back on campus and an NIL sponsor for 3 Bobcat football players

Texas State Dining, powered by Chartwells Higher Education, marked the return of Blimpie to campus with a ribbon-cutting event. Blimpie officials also announced a Name, Image and Likeness agreement with three Texas State University football players.

“This is a big day for Blimpie and a big day for Texas State University,” Blimpie Area Developer Alan Crites said. “We’re very excited to bring America’s Sub Shop back to the Texas State Campus, this time with a store and not just a station. We’re also very optimistic about our NIL deal with Texas State University Football Players, running back Lincoln Pare, wide receiver Chris Dawn Jr., and tight end Blake Smith.”

Blimpie is promoting the brand using the Names, Images, and Likenesses of three student-athletes on the Texas State University Football Team. These three athletes attended the meet-andgreet during the event and will promote the brand through their social media posts.

The location in Trauth- Huffman Hall replaces a coffee shop facing competition from other spots on campus. Students have been asking for more lunch options, and Blimpie meets that demand. The Blimpie location also provides breakfast options and an extensive menu of freshly made hot and cold sandwiches.

“We’re taking advantage of an opportunity to bring back a popular brand and putting it in a high-visibility area that has already resulted in a 65% increase in traffic since it opened,” Senior Director of Marketing and Guest Experience Whitney Villarreal said. “We’re always listening to our guests to find the brands and flavors they love, and we do our best to bring them to campus.”

Those who attended were treated to 500 Blimpie sandwiches: Blimpie Best, Turkey Provolone, Club and Veggie Supreme built as a 125-foot-long Blimpie sub, which they devoured in 25 minutes. They also got Miss Vickie’s potato chips and a bottled drink.

Pare, the 2025 First Responder Bowl MVP, has his go-to sandwich picked out.

“It’s the Blimpie Best Sub,” he said. “It’s a great sub with everything you could want on a sandwich. The bread may be the best part.”
