The Texas State University Sales Team excelled in the International Collegiate Sales Competition recently. Taylor Lack and Samantha Mateja, members of the Speed Selling team, were finalists in the speed selling event, contributing heavily to the overall points. Both competitors had 90 seconds in the first round to give the sponsoring company, Dexian — a global technology services company offering IT solutions like cybersecurity, cloud services, and digital transformation — reasons why they would be the best choice for a sales position. In the final round, the competitors had to memorize a brand new 150 second speech, acting as sales representatives for Dexian, selling their services to Reliaquest, a potential customer and a cybersecurity company that provides solutions for threat detection, response and management. There were over 160 competitors in this event.
The Role Play team consisting of Jake Reed and Taylor Lack finished in the top quartile out of 160 of the world’s top collegiate competitors. Garnering a quarter-final round Role Play appearance was Jake Reed. Taylor Lack advanced deep into the second round. The scenarios dealt with DLL, a major commercial financing company, providing a comprehensive financing program for sales technologies by a potential customer called Tom James, the world’s premier provider of custom- made clothing.
The Sales Management Case Competition team of Britney Blood and Kyle Kitagawa finished strong in the Sales Management Case Competition as well. They were tasked with providing numerous solutions to an organization’s sales team. The company that the competitors were presenting to was Reliaquest.
