The Unsung Creatives Workshop and Showcase is now accepting applications for its upcoming eight-week program, designed to reignite creativity and support individuals in bringing their artistic dreams to life. This transformative experience offers participants the opportunity to explore their creative instincts, complete a creative project and present their work in a public showcase, all within a supportive and encouraging group environment.
The application deadline is Feb. 17. The workshop dates are 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Mondays (March 3 to April 21) at the San Marcos Public Library. The showcase will be April 19 at Mothership Studios.
The Unsung Creatives Workshop welcomes participants from all creative disciplines, including visual art, writing, music, dance, theater, crafting and more. Whether individuals have a long-lost passion they wish to rekindle or an undefined creative impulse waiting to take shape, this program provides the structure and guidance needed to develop and share their work. Throughout the program, participants will cultivate a creative practice while overcoming their inner critic, so they can follow their creative instincts to produce a creative project for a public showcase for friends, family and a supportive community.
Led by Expressive Arts Facilitator Ellen Rebecca Geis, the workshop offers a space for creative exploration without judgment, regardless of technical skill level. Geis has been facilitating intermodal, self-reflective arts workshops for eight years. Her experience in theater, visual art, movement, writing and creative healing helps her craft workshops that are accessible and inspiring to people of all creative modalities and skill levels. She is passionate about helping people get back in touch with their creativity and believes everyone deserves to have their creative work witnessed and celebrated as an expression of who they are. Geis’ workshops Express Yourself!, Theater for Adults and now The Unsung Creatives Project all provide ways for adults to reclaim their creativity and find joy in the creative process.
Priority will be given to applicants who have never shared their work publicly or are returning to their creativity after a long hiatus.
