TXST MEN’S BASKETBALL
Texas State snapped a five-game losing streak, defeating the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks 72-60 in the road win.
The win improved the Bobcats overall record to 13-13 and their conference record to 6-7.
“Obviously, we’ve gone through our fair share of challenges this season,” Head Coach Terrence Johnson said. “It felt good to get this win. I’m proud of these guys. I thought they were connected and focused on team goals.”
The victory also saw the return of graduate senior forward Tyrel Morgan and junior guard Mark Drones back in the lineup after dealing with injuries.
Morgan finished the game with 10 points and Drones with eight points.
“Having Mark and Tyrel back gives us two talented and tough guys that are gamers,” Johnson said. “Today was a total team effort but having these guys back made a difference indeed.”
Senior forward Tylan Pope led the team in scoring with a game high 22 points and four rebounds. Senior guard Dylan Dawson was second in scoring with 11 points.
Senior forward Christian Turner led the team in rebounds with nine, while also scoring nine points.
Texas State will look to make it two in a row Saturday when the Bobcats go back on the road to battle the South Alabama Jaguars. The Jaguars are coming off a 91-82 overtime win against the Marshall Thundering Herd.
Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
