ROTARY CLUB OF SAN MARCOS
The Rotary Club of San Marcos is hosting a Mardi Gras themed Casino Night fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 28 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The event will be held at the Centex Wing of the Commemorative Air Force Museum, 1841 Airport Road, Building 2249. The event features gaming, food, beer and wine, prizes and a diamond raffle. Attendees are encouraged to wear beads and other Mardi Gras accessories.
Co-chairing the event this year are John and Allison Hardy.
“This is a great annual community event that has raised thousands of dollars to support local charities who share Rotary’s values of service above self,” John said about the event. “Great time with great people.“ Most of the proceeds this year will benefit the Beth and Kelly Damphousse Foster Educational Support Endowment at Texas State University. This scholarship assists students who are the product of the Texas Foster Care system. Tickets are $50 at the door. Tickets and reserved tables for eight are available in advance on the club’s website, SMTXrotary.com.
The nonprofit Commemorative Air Force Museum houses military aircrafts, including a rare flying Bell P-39Q Airacobra (named Miss Connie), the NAA B-25J (Yellow Rose), a Vultee BT-13 Valiant, a Cessna U-3A Administrator, Beech C-45 Expeditor (Lone Star Lady), the NAA AT-6 (Texan) and the Douglas Skytrain C-47 (That’s All Brother). The aircraft are still air-worthy and maintained by Commemorative Air Force volunteers.
Rotary is nonprofit, nonpolitical and nonreligious. The Rotary Club of San Marcos is 104 years old.
