COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
The city of San Marcos seeks community comments and suggestions on the types of programs and projects that should be funded using the city’s Community Development Block Grant funds. The input will be used to prepare the October 2025 to September 2030 CDBG Consolidated Plan.
The city receives approximately $700,000 in CDBG funding each year from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Every five years, the city adopts a new CDBG Consolidated Plan that describes community needs, resources, priorities, and includes a strategic plan that outlines how the federal funding may be used to address these priority needs.
"This is an interactive session, no agenda. We provide information on the previous consolidated plan and chat with people to get feedback on the priorities," an official with the city of San Marcos stated. "We will have boards for people to prioritize needs and show where they want projects to be."
Members of the San Marcos community can provide input using the CDBG Consolidated Plan survey and by providing comments at upcoming public meetings. The next meeting is Thursday, Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. at the San Marcos Senior Citizens Center, located at 810 Arizona street. Spanish-speaking individuals will be present to assist anyone with limited English proficiency. Individuals who need auxiliary aids and services for this meeting should call 512.393.8000 or call Texas Relay Service at 7-11. Requests can also be sent by e-mail to ADArequest@ sanmarcostx.gov.
The survey will be available in English and Spanish between Feb. 1 to 28. The survey may be completed online at sanmarcostx. gov/cdbgplan.
Paper copies may be picked up at the San Marcos Public Library, 625 E Hopkins St., or the City Hall lobby, 630 E Hopkins Street. Completed paper copies should be returned to the city’s Planning and Development Services Department, located on the 2nd floor of building 2 in the City Hall complex.
