Texas State had their game against Sam Houston called in the fourth inning due to weather, leading the rival Bearkats 7-1. Play will resume Tuesday April 2.
The Bobcats struck first in their opening at-bat of the game, when junior centerfielder Keely Williams connected with a RBI triple to put Texas State up 1-0.
Junior first baseman Aiyana Coleman scored Williams on an RBI single, extending the lead 2-0.
Sam Houston answered in the second inning, scoring on a Bobcat fielding error off the triple and cut the lead to 2-1.
Texas State answered back in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of the fielder’s choice to go up 3-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Bobcats added on to their lead.
Loading up the bases, freshman Emily Fish hit an RBI single, scoring freshman shortstop Erin Peterson before a Bearkat throwing error tacked on another Bobcat run and put runners on second and third.
