TXST BASEBALL

Texas State took down their first Top 25 team of the season, defeating the No. 17 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys 4-2 at Globe Life Field.

The Bobcats improved their overall record to 4-0.

Texas State made the initial strike in the first inning when sophomore centerfielder Ethan Farris connected with a RBI single through the left side to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead.

After being held to five scoreless innings, the Cowboys finally brought home a run in the sixth inning. Oklahoma State scored on the RBI single, tying the game at 1-1.

In the top of the eighth inning, Texas State loaded up the bases with one out. Following a wild pitch, sophomore right fielder Samson Pugh took home while freshman pinch-runner Caden Baker took third and sophomore shortstop Ryne Farber took second.

Following a Bobcat strikeout, Baker scored on another Oklahoma State wild pitch while Farber took third.

Farber later stole home on catcher’s interference, allowing Texas State to go up 4-1.

Oklahoma State attempted to make their comeback in their final at-bat during the ninth inning, scoring one run.

But the Bobcats slammed the door to seal the 4-2 win.

Junior relief pitcher Bryson Dudley earned his second win of the season, throwing 2.2 innings while allowing just three hits, one earned run, two walks and striking out seven batters. Junior closing pitcher Carson Laws earned his third save of the season.
