TXST WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Texas State outscored Louisiana 18-8 in the fourth quarter to seal a 69-58 win over the Ragin’ Cajuns behind a career night from sophomore guard Ja’Mia Harris.
Harris scored a career high 21 points in the victory as Texas State and Head Coach Zenarae Antoine improved their overall record to 11-15.
“I was just letting [the ball come to me],” Harris said.
“I wasn’t really forcing it. My teammates got me the ball at the right times, and I was just making [the shots].”
With Texas State leading 51-50 going into the fourth quarter, the Bobcats and the Cajuns traded baskets back and forth. With less than five minutes in the game, Louisiana cut the Bobcat lead down to two points at 57-55.
Holding a one-possession lead, the Bobcats got their response. Going on a 9-0 run, Texas State expanded the lead to 66-55 as Louisiana was unable to overcome the deficit.
Senior Jaylin Foster, who ended the game with 19 points and eight rebounds, knew the Bobcats needed to stay aggressive in order to seal the win, “Don’t play loose,” Foster said. [Just] hit them first and know that we have to stay half composed throughout the fourth quarter. Do what
PAGE 11A we do best, stay calm and don’t let them speed us up but play our tempo.”

With the Bobcats’ difficulty winning at home, Antoine was happy to give the hometown a much needed win as Texas State closed out their final home games of the season.
“Obviously, we like that we finally get an opportunity to win here at home for our fans,” Antoine said. “We seem to do that on the road and bring that mentality you saw at the end. You saw us close a game, which was important. Even when we threw away the ball, right? [Then fans] are probably like, ‘Oh, no, not again.’ Right? But what I liked was that the players weren’t like, ‘Oh, no, not again.’
It’s like, ‘All right, reset, we’re hungry and we want to win.’” Texas State closes out the weekend at home against Southern Miss.
