Bobcats hold off Southern Miss comeback for home finale win

TXST WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Texas State won their final home game of the season, defeating the Southern Miss Golden Eagles 62-57.

The Bobcats and Head Coach Zenarae Antoine improved their overall record to 12-15 overall and 6-10 in the conference. Antoine was also happy to send her six senior players off with a win in their final game at Strahan Arena.

“I am so excited for these six young women,” Antoine said. “This will forever be in their memory book. That they were able to leave their mark here at Texas State, not just with all they do athletically and academically, but that they won in their final series. In a tough season that was riddled with injuries and different scenarios, we found a way to finish strong at home.”

Despite taking an early lead against the Golden Eagles in the first period, the Bobcats fell behind Southern Miss, trailing 12-5 with less than four minutes remaining in the period.

Going into the second period, Texas State trailed 15-10.
