Shalonda “Deannie” Kindred was born on March 27, 1975, in Austin, Texas, to Nathaniel and Barbara Kindred (Williams - Walker).
Shalonda attended school in Georgia prior to moving to Texas. She attended San Marcos High School and graduated in 1993. She was a member of the SMHS choir. At her graduation, she was encouraged to sing the class’s graduation song, “I Will Always Love You,” during the graduation ceremony. Shalonda was well liked among her peers.
Her love for singing started when she was a member of the youth choir at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church. As a teenager, Shalonda accepted Christ at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church under Rev. Patricia Spearman. She was a member of the church drill team, choir and Jr. Usher.
