City of San Marcos Launches Surveys for Public Input on Downtown Parking

CITY OF SAN MARCOS

The city of San Marcos invites residents, businesses and visitors to participate in two surveys launched the week of February 17 that will provide valuable insights into how the community experiences parking in downtown San Marcos and help guide decisions that improve accessibility, efficiency and convenience.

The two surveys — one for residents and visitors, and another specifically for business owners and employees — will explore key topics such as parking availability, ease of use and potential areas for improvement. Using feedback gathered through the survey, city staff and the Parking Advisory Board will explore parking management strategies, which could include paid parking, aimed at enhancing the overall downtown parking experience.

“We recognize that parking plays a vital role in the daily lives of our residents, visitors and businesses,” San Marcos Multimodal Parking Initiatives Manager Charles Campbell said. “These surveys are an important step in understanding the challenges people face and ensuring that our parking policies support the needs of our growing city. We encourage everyone to participate and share their perspectives.”

The surveys are available online in English and Spanish at sanmarcostx. gov/downtownparking and will remain open until April 18. Using the survey results, city staff and the Parking Advisory Board will develop a comprehensive parking management recommendation for review by the San Marcos City Council.
