Riverstone, a new affordable apartment community that is part of LDG Development’s portfolio, is making a meaningful impact with its innovative program, “Dad’Zone.” Created by Rob Rodriguez, a resident services coordinator at Riverstone, Dad’ Zone provides fathers with an opportunity to spend quality time with their children while also offering positive male mentorship for those who may not have their fathers present in their lives.
The initiative is designed to foster stronger relationships between fathers and their children, and create a supportive environment where dads can engage, learn and grow alongside their families. By promoting positive fatherhood involvement, Dad’Zone also strengthens the broader community, ensuring children have the guidance and encouragement they need to develop confidence and resilience.
Additionally, the program provides fathers with the opportunity to connect with other dads in their community and build a support system where they can share experiences and offer advice as they navigate the challenges and successes of fatherhood.
“Dads want to be heard, and they are best heard by other Dads,” said Rob Rodriguez, founder of the initiative. “I would love to see this program expand across the company. It’s needed at every property.”
Dad’Zone is about more than just spending time together — it’s about building a culture of active fatherhood and mentorship. Every child deserves to have a strong, supportive role model, and Dad’Zone is designed to intentionally provide a space where fathers and father figures can step up and create lasting memories with their kids.
At Riverstone, the Dad’Zone program includes structured activities that encourage meaningful interactions, such as arts and crafts, game nights, teambuilding activities, open discussions and storytelling sessions. For children who may not have a father figure who is consistently present in their lives, the program ensures participants consistently have positive interaction with male role models through volunteers known as Mentor Dads that help create nurturing and positive relationships.
