Kathryn Welch, president of SMAL’s Board of Directors, said the show features new artworks demonstrating the range and skill of area artists in a variety of media from photography, acrylics and mixed media to batik, mosaic, assemblage and fabric.
“There’s 2-D art and 3-D art, collage, mixed media, paintings, just anything that our members do and want to show,” Welch said. “This is a great chance to get to know us better as well as see such a huge variety of art work. It’s pretty inspiring.”
Participating artists include Margaret Adie, Debangana Banerjee, Ronnie Borden, Lana Daniel, Clay Destefano, Earlene Graham, Sondra Kretschmar, Diann McCabe, Adriana “Gigi” Mederos, Emily Mullan, Joan Nagel, Lisa McPike Smith and many more. Most works are for sale.

The San Marcos Art League will have membership applications at the reception and will be taking donations. Welch said there are lots of benefits for local artists that want to join the Art League.
“For artists, there are a lot of perks. One of the main ones is that on our website we have a member’s gallery with a thumbnail photo and a direct link to the artist's website — which is great exposure,” Welch said. “Also artists get a discount on booth fees at Art Squared every month as well as opportunities like this show that are members only.”
