The Chamber Connects – Partnerships that Build Tomorrow’s Workforce

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to play a role in shaping the future of our workforce by building strong partnerships between local businesses, schools and students. We believe that inspiring the next generation begins today, and our efforts are focused on connecting young minds with real-world opportunities that ignite curiosity and open doors.

One of the Chamber’s key priorities is to support workforce development. By supporting programs that link classrooms to careers, we help our local educators to lead students from early interest to longterm success. Businesses that engage with students today are not only helping them to learn and discover — they’re planting the seeds for tomorrow’s talent pipeline. When students are exposed to the possibilities within local industries, they begin to envision themselves as future engineers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and skilled tradespeople.

A great example of this work in action is the S.T.E.A.M. Fair on Saturday, April 5, hosted at San Marcos High School by the Chamber and San Marcos CISD’s Career & Technical Education Department. This free community event, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., celebrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math by bringing together local businesses, school groups, university departments and a variety of nonprofit organizations for three fun hours of hands-on learning and discovery.
